XBOX sends me defective replacement. How ...

A couple of weeks ago my 360 displayed the E74 message.....brutal!! I sent it in and received a replacement console fairly fast. I setup the console and everything was going fine.....no problems yet. In the last couple of days when I turn on the console it doesn't recognize that there is a disc in it. What the hell. How can this happen???? I don't know if they sent me a refurbished console or what the deal is. Anybody else experience something like this?? They better replace this one under warranty as well. I have seriously been considering switching to PS3 with all the problems I have been having with XBOX lately.XBOX sends me defective replacement. How ...

If you request a repair and your serial number has changed, it's someone elses refurbished console.
i have seen the infamous put the disc in and all it says is open tray its annoying a way you can possibly get around it even just for a litttle while is turn on your system with the game in or putting the game in, wait for the error to occur, unplug just the video cord wait a second turn off the system then plug the cord back in then it should work, just a temp fix. thats only advised if they wont send you an actual working one.you will have to do this every time you change discs once you get the disc in you dont have to open the tray again untill you want another in its place.
With all the problems XBOX has with its HARDWARE, it is not surprising that you got one and it went bad that quickly - it is just the laws of probabilityBut both both consoles have their problems:Microsoft = good SOFTWARE (their specialty) and bad HARDWARE (RROD)Sony = good HARDWARE (reliable, their specialty) and not so good Software (online)Just go with the console that has the games you want most (which was PS3 for me, but I also want several XBOX exclusives)
Sad story :(
I had a similiar problem except they fixed my RRD. then several months later the cannot read disc error occured. Its a shame my original 1987 nintendo still works but my 360 breaks down every year
I was having the same problem. It would say open tray when there was a disc inside. I ended up having to pound the top of the 360 while the game was being read in order to get it to play. Real pain in the butt. I ended up just buying a new 360 and switching it out.
