In oblivion you have one race that can see in the dark, and there's also a magic spell that gives you night vision. However, there is no equivalent to this in Fallout 3, forcing you to take yourself out of that suspension of disbelief by turning up the brightness of your TV when you're in a dark area and trying to be a stealthy character by leaving off your PIP boy light. Also, according to the instruction manual, in the alternate universe in which fallout 3 exists, technology progressed at a much faster rate after ww2 than in our own, and the world didn't erupt into total chaos until 2077. So with that in mind, why were they still use low-tech DOS computers in a year 60 years after present day in our world?
First about NV...I Don't think that's a big problem. But If it appears at next DLC,I will love to have one.Second about the low-tech things...En...Didn't you know that was for making a Classic style for the game itself?Like songs in game also were old...Anyone else find it odd that there's no ...
About not having NVG and up-to-date technology: your arguments are rock solid and valid, but I can only assume that the technology that ''progressed faster'' in the Fallout world than in ours was more along the lines of military technology, such as weapons and facilities, and not technology that is more mainstream, such as personal computers and such. For instance, despite the DOS computer terminals you see in Fallout, there are technological advancements from the game's time frame such as Liberty Prime; things such as those would be close to unimaginable in our world.

Prehuang, I get what you're saying about the music being more from the 50's era, but the background of the world is that culturally they stayed locked in the ideals of the 1950's all the way up through 2077.
hmmm. Turn on your pipboy light.
But you're not as stealthy when you have it on, just like how you're not as stealthy in Oblivion when you're carrying a torch or using an illumination spell.
I really love the theme it has to it, it goes from one extreme to another, talking robots controlling a government to a50s themed wife baking acakes in the ''perfect world''. A nowaday technological device such as a NVGwouldn't fit in IMO.

Oh but a stealth camouflage suit and a plasma rifle fit just fine? The military technology is supposed to be far advanced beyond that in our world, so I don't see why such a basic commando tool such as NVG would be missing.
Ive been wondering the same thing myself. I think they just overlooked it tbh :)
If the military technology is so advanced, there needs to be night vision goggles.
the whole game is basically a mockery, its what people in the 50's thought the future would be like, robots that wash your dishs, laser guns, etc.

No
I also wondered about the technology portrayed in the game, if it was so advanced why are the cars so old and the motorcycles so old that are throughout the game, To me it looks as if the area was destroyed in the 50's and is now inhabited by people a century later.

Why no one had trouble seeing at night and there was no place that was pitch black so there was zero need for nvg.
