Tales of Vesperia.....can't get into it ...

I've heard great things about Tales of Vesperia, picked up the game, and I just can't get into it. I'm the point when you leave the city for the first time. Any tips or advice? I love western-rpgs and am a complete newbie to jrpgs. Any tips or advice?

Thanks!Tales of Vesperia.....can't get into it ...
You'll learn the hard way lol...never force yourself to get into a game or genre that you're not comfortable with just because alot of people like the game doesn't mean you have to, I tried to like Oblivion but I couldn't get into, so you know what I did ? I decided that maybe I just don't like the game;)Tales of Vesperia.....can't get into it ...

man finally someone else who didnt liked oblivion.

i hated that game so much
The game starts off pretty slow, it starts to get better around the time you meet Rita, just give it time, you will start to get more Artes and people in your party.
It gets better, wait a little longer before you decide to drop it :)
The game picks up after a few hours imo. Just keep playing it!I also thought it was kidna MEH at first, but then it started to get very interesting.
I'd say keep playing, it starts off sorta slow but begins to pick up, especially combat-wise. Usually JRPGs take a bit of time to really pick up.If you still can't get into it, then I guess JRPGs aren't for you, which is fine too. At least you tried it out.

It does improve, but it never has a particularly strong story. If that's what you're looking for, you may be best off moving on. If you can enjoy the gorgeous art style and music, the great battle system, and the fun interactions between the characters, then I'd say keep going.

Same here and i can't no matter how hard i try see the appeal of this game.
JRPGs aren't for everyone. I'm playing Lost Odyssey now and liking it, but before that the only JRPG I cared for was Final Fantasy VII on the PS1.

Some of my gripes about them are: 1. Linear

2. Androgynous character designs

3. Hokey dialogue and writing

4. Far too many of them have the same damned story (main character discovers love and friendship and thus gains the strength to save the world!)

Maybe some of the reasons I don't like most of them are reasons you aren't enjoying Tales of Vesperia. I haven't played the full game, but the demo didn't help push me towards trying it out.
it get's a lot better at late game after like the first 10 hours the game is awsome one of the best jrpg i've played on this gen.. if u want some spoilers about how good the battles become find them on youtube !
You played it for like an hour, after a few good hours of play it gets really good and by the end it just feels amazingly satisfying.
Thanks for the posts and I'm sure there's a thread or two out there for the Oblivion haters and their b!tching
The only advice I think I can give you is to look for a walkthrough or strategy guide. www.gamefaqs.com is a good place to start.
Tales series has always been niche. If you're not into Japanese anime RPGs than there's nothing we can do to convince you otherwise. You just have to either find enjoyment out of it.
Gave the game more time....and its pretty fun and growing on me...its nice to find a good solid game.

To be fair Oblivion started off really slow. You do have to play a good chunk into it before the game sinks it's teeth into you. The same thing happened to me with ToV. Never even made it out of the castle and just never picked it back up until my buddy wanted it back. Just never got motivated enough to play it over another game of my collection. Hoping my friend will send it back my way so I can take another stab at it though.
I'd at least give it a few more hours before you toss it aside. You just left the city, so go explore a bit and meet some new characters to get a better feel for the game. It's my personal favorite game on the 360, but it's your call. I would just give a little more time is all.
Games like Tales of Vesperia takes a while before getting pretty epic. Kinda like Oblivion, its hard for me to get into it. .-.
tales of vesperia its fantastic rpg
